According to The Food Safety Law of China, imported foods shall comply with China food safety national standards, pass inspection by Customs and obtain inspection certificates.
If the imported food is found not complying with the national food safety standards or there is evidence that such food may endanger human health, the importer shall RMB 50,000 and RMB 100,000 shall also be imposed, in cases where the total value of illegal food products and/or food additives involved is less not less than ten times—of the total value of illegal food products and/or food additives involved.
